If you’re looking at different Chicago neighborhoods, be sure to search Lincoln Square homes. The area was known for its German population, starting in the 1840s. While Lincoln Square real estate still maintains its German roots, it’s become quite multicultural over the last few decades. The community includes six distinct neighborhoods. Lincoln Square real estate comes in a variety of styles and sizes. Those who are interested in historic architecture will find styles including Victorian, bungalow, and craftsman. Some have been completely updated and modernized, while others are just waiting for someone to show them a little love. There is also a fair number of modern, new construction homes. Both large homes, with many bedrooms and interior space, and smaller starter homes are available. Home buyers who prefer condo living will find many good choices, too.
Lincoln Square homes have lots to offer people of many lifestyles. Families with children will appreciate the many excellent public schools in the area. They provide excellent academics, as well as caring teachers. A variety of private and parochial schools provide more options. The Ravenswood neighborhood of the community has much of the commercial activity in the area, both industry and creative business. There are plenty of German restaurants, as well as hip bars and boutiques. The Lincoln Square and Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce supports local businesses through events, seminars, and networking opportunities.
Residents of Lincoln Square come together often for annual festivals and celebrations. The Square Roots festival is hosted by Old Town School of Folk Music and the chamber of commerce. It celebrates the local craft breweries and musicians. There’s also plenty of great food and a marketplace of vendors. The mid-July nights are filled with dance parties, classes, and open jam sessions. In September, the community hosts the German-American Oktoberfest. Festival goers indulge in traditional German food, beers, and treats. Dance and sing to German music, and shop local vendors. There are lots of carnival games for kids, too.
