All over the Loop there is an overabundance of festivals and events to enjoy this summer, but one in particular that is exclusively hands-on for children is Millennium Park’s Family Fun Fest!
Chicago’s annual Family Fun Festival in Millennium Park will present hand-on activities, sing-alongs, and more for your family to enjoy the summer while it’s here!
Located in the Loop in Millennium Park’s Family Fun Tent on the Park’s Chase Promenade North, this festival is free to adults and kids of all ages.
The schedule is broken down into 3 sections per day, starting at 10 a.m. with a sing-a-long by the Wiggleworms instructors from the Old Town School of music. At 11 a.m., families can mellow out with story time during the Reading Circle, and at 1 p.m., live music will be presented by a variety of entertainers.
On scheduled festival days (listed below) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., families can take part in interactive activities that are each led by a different Chicago museum or cultural organization. The rotating weekly series has in store a plethora of sights, sounds and tastes for children including making colorful Pop-inspired creations with the Art Institute of Chicago and crafting green inspirations with Lurie Garden.
The festival begins July 9 and runs through September 2 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Each day will feature and by led by the organization as follows:
July 22-28, 2013: Museum of Science and Industry
July 29-August 4, 2013: Chicago History Museum
August 5-11, 2013: CircEsteen, Chicago’s Youth Circus
August 12-18, 2013: Get Out & Grow
The Family Fun Festival is presented by Target, the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs & Special Events, and the Chicago Office of Tourism and Culture. The City of Chicago says that if temperatures exceed 97 degrees inside the festival tent, the event will close.
